dog agility
Skye asked:

I tried googling it but couldn’t find much. It doesn’t have to be exact to standards. I just need a plank which will be easy to get from a lumber store. However, what can I put on the bottom to make it go up and down? My sheltie is great at agility but often flies off the see-saw and doesn’t qualify. I can practice with a child’s see-saw but the handles throw her off a bit. THANKS for any suggestions!

My Sheltie shows a lot of potential. She runs the course perfectly except she will NOT do the see-saw. She gets on it and just freezes. She is obviously scared of the movement. We started with one very low to the ground but it didn’t make a difference. If I go on the other end and move it down, she’ll finish it but she won’t walk on it and let it go down with her weight. The noise doesn’t scare her, just the movement. I’ve tried putting little treats every few inches till the end but she she just goes a little bit and then freezes again. I use a lot of praise. She had the same problem with the dog walk and she finally, does it perfectly and fast! Does she just need more time??? We’ve only taken maybe 10 classes total and I have no place to practice. Could I make a homemade see-saw or would a child’s one work for practice? Any more suggestions? Oh, she is a 10 month old Sheltie!
